Emergencies

We often hear from special guardians who are in the middle of a crisis. It may be you need urgent help with a specific issue that is causing direct harm to you or your children.

Get urgent help

Our team will always do what they can to help, but we are not able to deal with emergencies. If you or your child are injured or in immediate danger, call 999 and ask for an ambulance or go to accident and emergency (A&E) at your nearest hospital.

What to do in an emergency

Our team at Buckinghamshire Council run a dedicated advice line for special guardians. However, we are not in a position to help you in a medical emergency or crisis.

If you or the child you care for feel threatened or that you are in immediate danger, please call 999 to speak to the emergency services. Call 111 if you need medical help quickly, but it is not a 999 emergency.

You can call 101 if you need to report a crime.

Other urgent support

If you or the child you care for need someone to talk to urgently, or feeling suicidal outside of the advice line hours, you can contact the Samaritans for 24/7 support.

If you have any other type of urgent issue, contact the Council’s Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on 0800 999 7677.

Keep us informed

Once you have got the urgent help you need and it is safe for you to contact our support team, please get in touch. We can give you follow-up support and help you make sense what has happened.
