About this website
The Guardians’ Guide features information, advice and useful resources for special guardians and anyone who wants to be one.
It was written and developed with the help of current special guardians who have lived the process and kindly shared their experiences. The site is managed and maintained by the Post Order Support Team at Buckinghamshire Council.
The services for guardians listed on the site are for people who live in the Buckinghamshire area. But the guides and videos on becoming a guardian, starting out as a guardian and life as a guardian are for everyone. Please feel free to share them with anyone who you think might find them useful.
Our support teams
Here at Buckinghamshire Council, we have dedicated teams who support special guardians at all stages of the process. If you have questions or need support, you can contact our advice line five days a week.
We have two support teams:
Post Order Support Team – offers practical advice, runs regular workshops and provides a range of services for special guardians.
Connected Persons Team – offers information and support for people thinking about or going through the process of becoming a special guardian.
We are all friendly, professional and have plenty of experience, so please get in touch when you need extra help.
Being a special guardian can be a rewarding experience, but it can have its challenges too. It’s our job to give you the support you need, so that you can do the same for the child you care for.
Share your feedback
The Guardians’ Guide has been informed by detailed research and regular feedback from current special guardians. However, we know there may be areas that we have not covered.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the site, our services or any other comments you would like to share with the team.
